I wonder, do some people find themselves thinking ‘you know what, I really want to listen to some female-fronted 80s rock with 90s production right now?’ Assuming they do (and judging by the popularity of Paramore et al it’s a fair assumption), Skarlett Riot fit the bill perfectly.

Yes, it’s every bit as cliché as the titles suggest - ‘Read My Lips’, ‘Party Hard’, ‘Take It All’, ‘You’re the Enemy’ - and while the censored version of ‘Read My Lips’ might seem the very antithesis of rock rebellion, it will doubtless improve their chances of getting radio airplay.

They’ve already been picked up by Kerrang! Radio, and drawing comparisons with Halestorm, it’s pretty obvious that they’ve established their target market and are going all-out to hit it. It’s hardly groundbreaking, but as an example of the genre (and unlike their haircuts) it’s not bad.
