Supposedly a tale about Hemingway meeting his Muse in a ‘faraway Spanish bordello’, Robinson’s piece of fiddle-filled gypsy folk-pop has a more than ample dash of sleaze and smoke and comes on more like The Sensational Alex Harvey Band’s version of ‘Delilah’ than any more obvious trad-folk reference point. More ‘The Garden of Eden’ than ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’, it’s got some sharp hooks to recommend it and makes me want to go and get tight.
