Review: 'Paws'
'Misled Youth (EP)'

-  Label: 'FatCat'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '14th May 2012'-  Catalogue No: 'FATTAPE02'

Our Rating:
Paws are all about the lo-fi US indie sound, and FatCat are right behind them, releasing this five-track EP on cassette. Yes, you read that right: cassette. Are they mad? Well, given that many people ditched their cassette decks many moons ago, you might be forgiven for thinking so. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned in recent years, it’s surely that the future’s retro, and just as vinyl never died, so the fond memories people of a certain age have of the cassette are inspiring something of a revival.

Just in case it gets chewed in the player or you don’t even have a player, copies come with a code to download the MP3 files of the songs on here.

They’ve got that Pavement-y kind of feel to them (angling toward the poppier end of their spectrum), and kind of surf-grunge vibe, and given the popularity of bands like Yuk and The Vaccines right now, the time is surely right for Paws, whatever format their music’s released on.
