Review: 'ourfamous dead'
'CLAWS AT THE DOOR (EP)'

-  Label: 'Self-released'
-  Genre: 'Punk/New Wave' -  Release Date: '2nd July 2012'

Our Rating:
‘Claws at the Door’ is the latest single release from ourfamous dead, a band of electro-rockers who were formed in Leeds in 2009. The band comprises Andrew AJ Reeves on lead vocals, Robin Speight on drums and backing vocals, Richard Jennings on guitar and backing vocals, Callum Knight on guitar and Simon Green on Bass.

This single is the sort of heavy electro rock that Gary Numan resurrected his career with. A loud, atmospheric track, ‘Claws at the Door’ is one that is not easily forgotten. Andrew AJ Reeves’ vocal alternate between guttural screams, and extremely melodic verses, which raises this above a lot of other bands in the same league. The lyrics are really good, concentrating on the fact that people effectively hold themselves in chains and how they should fight against this: “We're forced to relive, we're forced to remember, (we're forced to remember)/ The death of all our souls through over exposure (through over exposure).”

I really liked this, and with a run out vocal of “We burn like angels into the sun. We turn to ashes under the sun" it's really infectious. Give it a listen. On the strength of this, ourfamous dead will burn very brightly indeed.
