So what we have here are five previously unreleased tracks that are mixed and mashed and hashed from tracks originally mixed and mashed and hashed from a huge cross-section of sources by Malorix, plus one brand new track. Rotterdam-based Malorix is described as ‘a producer of sound system culture clashes’, and when his material is hacked, whacked, sliced, diced and spliced by third parties, the results are dizzying.
Bhangra beats collide with clattering industrial percussion, loops and samples spin into one another and basslines bounce in all directions. Whether or not it’s any good is hard to tell, there’s just so much going on, but it certainly isn’t dull.
