Following the spiky punky pop gem that was ‘Predator’, the lead track on Sheepy’s debut EP, ‘Glum’ comes as something of a disappointment. The quintessential Britpop vibe is executed well enough, but lacks sparkle and the song – rather fittingly – is a bit of a plodder. I suspect it’d work nicely as an album track, but simply isn’t a grabby enough single track.
‘Craic Injector’ on the other hand, is everything ‘Glum’ isn’t: uptempo, punchy, grungy, and well served by its primitive productions values. It’s as hooky as hell, too, making it one of Sheepy’s prime cuts.
