'Ever Decreasing Circles'

-  Album: 'Ever Decreasing Circles' -  Label: 'Swan Country Records'
-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: '22nd June 2012'-  Catalogue No: 'SCR2'

Our Rating:
Bluegrass-tinged country folk singer Juey has already received numerous accolades for her songwriting, and her resume features multiple semi-final entries in the UK Songwriting Contest 2010.

‘Ever Decreasing Circles’ is her debut album, and the 11 tracks it contains do showcase her songwriting abilities to great effect. The simplicity of the compositions is their real great strength. For all of her multi-instrumental skills – Juey plays not only guitar and sings, but makes use of harmonica, banjo, mandolin and ‘foot stomp’ to augment her tunes – Juey manages to apply restraint, keeping the arrangement uncluttered and thus allowing her voice to lead.

It’s a straightforward, honest album, and while ‘Ever Decreasing Circles’ hardly packs thrills by the second, if you’re into your singer / songwriter sorts, Juey is definitely in the upper divisions for quality.
