‘Starting Block’, the lead single from the forthcoming eponymous debut album by Stubborn Heart is... well, what is it? Description and definition arrive at more of a stumbling block than a starting block. Laid back and smoochy, yet simultaneously soulful and melancholy is what it is. Moreover, despite a busy beat that’s rather cool, it all feels rather lacking. The spacious, clean production is smooth and slick, and there’s not much going on beyond the bass.
