Review: '3RA'
'Starstruck'

-  Album: 'Let Go'
-  Genre: 'Soul' -  Release Date: '10th November 2012'

Our Rating:
'Starstruck' is the latest release from refreshing new electro R&B act 3RA (pronounced 'era').

The track, taken from the group's upcoming mixtape 'Let Go', is a soulful piece consisting of beautiful vocal harmonies and melodic synthesisers. The three members of the group, brothers Phrase and Ly and long-term friend Davis, all contribute to the vocals to form the impressive layers and catchy hooks present in 'Starstruck'. The track neatly highlights each member's specific skills, along with their obvious songwriting and production talents. Whilst the chorus is dominated by Phrase's powerful voice, the verse sees Davis take centre stage with his more mellow approach, followed by an intelligent rap from Ly.

In such a short space of time, 3RA have charted a remarkable rise to success. The group have already had the chance to reproduce a track by Labrinth, 'Let Go', and have gained plaudits from Jon Baker (GeeJam and Forward Recordings) Bubble & Scratch (Disturbing London) and Bradley McIntosh (S Club 7). With 'Starstruck' the group have added another highlight to their flourishing career. Let's hope that their soon-to-be released mixtape mirrors the quality of this song.
