And so to the latest, and arguably best instalment yet in Detroit's besuited insurrectionists ELECTRIC SIX'S militaristically-planned campaign to get the world up and frugging while they overthrow everything from the government to traffic wardens gets thrillingly underway.
Both "Danger! High Voltage" and "Gay Bar" should have left you with little doubt that E6 would - given the opportunity - much rather fan any potential flames rather than stamp them out, and "Dance Commander" is so totally in your face that even a belfry of bats couldn't be blind to their groove-based intent.
Frankly, what's NOT to like here?!! "Dance Commander" revels in its' simple as switchblades rifferama, huge rock pile-ups and electronic detonations. Hell, even Dick Valentine's questionable falsetto, which would sound naff in lesser mortal's hands (now, some on, would I say Justin Hawkins?) comes across as heroic here. Indeed, he doesn't so much implore with the "I wanna make it last forever!" kiss off line as brand it indelibly in your skull.

The single's first CD also has a cool track called "I Am Detroit", but CD2 is equally worthy of attention as it features two decent remixes. OK, you'd initially say why bother, but both the robot stomping beat and hard-edged logic of Benny Benassi's mix and Fatboy Slim's ghostly, sparse and cyclical 'dub' mix with added whooshing towards the close have their moments and both make like surefire dancefloor fillers, so who's complaining?
That Electric Six's rise is unstoppable seems impossible to deny at present and the fact they're touring non-stop until Christmas makes mockery of words like 'stamina'. They still orbit the typical Detroit sound the way Pluto does the Earth and more power to them for that. "Dance Commander" doesn't allow for wallflowers wanting to sit this one out, so succumb, worm: you know it's the only sensible option.
