Review: 'DE ROSA, JON'
'BIRDS OF BROOKLYN'

-  Label: 'Rocket Girl Records'
-  Genre: 'Pop' -  Release Date: '15th October 2012'-  Catalogue No: 'Download only'

Our Rating:
This single, Birds Of Brooklyn, has the feel of Patrick Wolf meeting the Divine Comedy and throwing in some Richard Hawley for good measure. It's a beautifully crafted song about the sort of birds you'd meet in a bar rather than see flying across the Brooklyn sky, in case you were wondering.

Although it does remind me a bit of My Life Story, it is more restrained than they ever were and it easily stands up to repeated listening that allow the lyrics to seep out and the breadth of the music to come through. This is the lead single from the forthcoming A Wolf In Preacher's Clothes LP, which is out on November 5th. If this is anything to go on and you like lush orchestrated pop it will be well worth searching out.
