‘Punk pop’ has come to carry some pretty horrific connotations, calling to mind the likes of Blink 182 and so on. Liverpudlian trio play punk pop of an altogether more appealing kind, drawing on vintage acts like Buzzcocks and The Undertones by way of influence. An overloading bass fuzz fills the space around the choppy guitar on ‘Another Day’, while ‘Bobble Hat Girl’ is a gloriously simple and concise love song that clocks in at precisely two and a half minutes. Punk pop perfection.
Vamos’ contributions - ‘Kiss Me’ and ‘Drugfuck’ are energetic lo-fi punky poppy blasts that are quite ok, but lack the finesse of Sheepy’s music.
