Review: 'Hundred Days'
'Mission Exodus'

-  Album: 'Mission Exodus' -  Label: 'Rogue Rock Records'
-  Genre: 'Rock' -  Release Date: '22nd October 2012'-  Catalogue No: 'RRR008'

Our Rating:
Despite citing 30 Seconds to Mars, AC/DC, Guns n’ Roses and Led Zep as their leading influences, ‘Mission Exodus’ comes on more like Iron Maiden only without the technical competence or capacity for the epic. Ok, so much of the Maidenness derives from the warbling style of portly front man Stuart Curtin which approximates Bruce Dickinson, only, again, without the flamboyance. He does occasionally approximate Axl Rose’s nasalness though, too. Musically, ‘Mission Exodus’ is a pretty plodding example of nondescript, standard rock.

The sluggish pub rock rendition of Huey Lewis and the News’ ‘The Power of Love’ is as predictable rock covers come, and a live recording of the band mauling ‘Live and Let Die’ at the end of the album – after we’ve already endured 14 slabs of their efforts to ‘ride the thin line between heavy metal and classic rock’ is anything but a bonus.
