Review: 'When We Were Wolves'
'The More Things Change, The More We Stay the Same'

-  Genre: 'Heavy Metal' -  Release Date: '21st January 2013'

Our Rating:
How many endless hours of raging yet woefully generic shouty metal must I endure? It’s not that I dislike metal per se. I certainly get ‘angry’, and I’m certainly not averse to heavy. But this kind of shit is like wading through bloody treacle. It’s not articulate, and worst of all, it’s hypocritical: When We Were Wolves are classic proponents of the anti-everything, especially conformity brand of contemporary metal who bang on about control and espouse individuality while sounding like every other metal band who do the clean vocal / throaty vocal / hugely overdriven rhythm guitar / nice melodic lead guitar contrasty thing. It’s as boring as the ‘straight’ world they’re railing against. Change the record!
