Review: 'HILLARY, BOB & THE MASSIVE MELLOW'
'Love'

-  Genre: 'Folk' -  Release Date: 'March 4th 2013'

Our Rating:
A lifelong farmer and green supporter himself, BOB HILLARY - a relative of legendary explorer Sir Edmund Hillary - understands environmental changes first-hand and this forms one of the key messages behind the album. Tracks such as 'How Will We Survive' and 'The Earth Song' express this perfectly.

Recorded in a variety of settings around the globe including India, Amsterdam and Scotland 'Love' uses a number of musical influences to produce something truly special. Combining beautiful harmonic collaborations with fellow singer/songwriter Carrie Tree and the brilliant craftsmanship of musicians, the album features 12 massively mellow (pardon the pun) tracks which flawlessly move between folk and soul vibes as well as a touch of reggae.

Similar to artists such as Jack Johnson, Ben Howard, and even a bit of Jose Gonzalez, Bob's wonderfully warm tones still have a distinctiveness which should set him out as strong competitor in this particular genre of music. With delicate doses of dub as such in 'I Feel Love' and soft sax tones such as that in 'Gently Does It', this completely chilled out compilation is easy to listen to and ideal for when you want to just sit back and enjoy some delightfully pleasant vibes. Buy it,'Love'it.
