FLAMINGO 50 mix girl-fronted riot pop with a punky style of kitsch, for a truly 90s experience. The 3 piece provide 4 songs on this EP, along with a seven second burst of righteous anger in “Dick!”.
The old school attitude is demonstrated in their dividing their tracks into an A and B side, and the American-tinged vocals and kitsch handclaps locate this band amongst others such as Le Tigre, currently finding favour both here and across the Atlantic. The music is accessible and enjoyable but despite the potential feminist overtones of the lyrics, the band don’t seem to have much to say.
