Review: 'Hypermagic'
'Sugar'

-  Album: 'Sugar' -  Label: 'Sturm Und Drang Records'
-  Genre: 'Indie' -  Release Date: '1st April 2013'

Our Rating:
he appropriately-named and enigmatic Hypermagic is a master of the ethereal. This re-release of 2011’s self-released ‘Sugar’ is a rich, swirling fog of densely-layered, soft-focus sound on sound. The kaleidoscopic guitars and synths drip together over half-buried beats to create ambient music with percussion and vocals. The vocals, however, are but another instrument, floating high on a cloud and way over there somewhere. The hazy, dreamy sound is utterly absorbing and envelops the listener completely. Gorgeously chilled and blissfully immersive, ‘Sugar’ really is one sweet nugget of an album.
