As part of our mission to get closer to the source of the music we love we've chased after and cornered an assortment of rock'n'roll folks in order to pin them into a chair and grill them on their influences, favourite foods, colour of their socks and all the other bits you want to know! We're attempting to dig into their musical psyches by getting a playlist from them too.
Check out our CHAT archive and you'll discover a load of in-depth interviews from the past five years, featuring influential figures such as the Twilight Singers' GREG DULLI, GARY NUMAN, Go-Betweens ROBERT FORSTER and the now sadly late GRANT McLENNAN, Echo & The Bunnymen's IAN McCULLOCH, The Durutti Column's VINI REILLY, ex-Smiths ANDY ROURKE and MIKE JOYCE and BLACK BOX RECORDER/ AUTEURS prime mover LUKE HAINES, not to mention young firebrands like FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND and THE OTHERS' Dominic Masters.
During 2008 unveiled some major exclusives such as Tim Peacock's career-spanning three-part interview with THE LA'S co-founder and later Onset leader MIKE BADGER and in-depth conversations with ALABAMA 3, JESSE MALIN, HELEN BOULDING and hotly-tipped youngsters DEATHRAY TREBUCHAY.
2009 is already shaping up to be a vintage year for features. Thus far, we've not only presented exclusives on Berlin-based composer of haunting soundscapes AIDAN BARTLEY and THE STRANGLERS' legendary bassist JJ BURNEL, but even ended up sharing bacon butties with Welsh wizards GOLDIE LOOKIN' CHAIN. And there's a lot more to come as the year unfolds.
Many people have passed through the W&H chair of pain, electrodes attached to their extremities, some of them have even enjoyed it!
